Serbian Flood Relief Effort in Australia

Dear SOYA Members & Friends,

Due to the death and great suffering inflicted upon the people of Serbia and Bosnia from floods not recalled in living memory, the Serbian government has announced 3 days of mourning, that is the 21st , 22nd, and 23rd of May.

Поводом смрти и великог страдања нанесено грађанима Србије, последица не памћених поплава, Влада Србије је прогласила тродневну жалост, т.ј. 21, 22 и 23 маја.

SOYA will be changing to the Black SOYA logo for the time being as a sign of mourning & solidarity for those in our motherland. We ask our community, our friends, and all whom read this to please send through a donation for our disaster relief fund, that will be sent to the people in need.

SOYA Vic donation to a hospital in Gracanica


25th of June 2010. The Health Centre is in Gracanica got two very valuable donations.

The first is a very high quality medical diagnostic equipment - 6 top stethoscope (two cardiac, two paediatric and two classic stethoscope) and a complete range of ENT diagnosis.This medical donation is a gift of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbian Orthodox youth organisation of Australia (SOYA). The equipment was donated with the blessing of Bishop Irenaeus (Dobrijevic).

The second grant is a financial and personal support of medical students from Melbourne Mr. Slavko Tokanovića in the amount of 30,000 dinars. Mr. Tokanović had already visited our team in intrevalu December 2009-January 2010. year. He then submitted our collective 450 euros and 10,000 dinars.

Mr. Tokanović said that he acquired a very nice impression of the Health Centre in Gracanica in the former residence and informed the Serbs from Australia, who wanted to donate diagnostic equipment. He pointed out that the WHO Health Centre in Gracanica on the top level, which it is impressed.

All these valuable gifts personally flown Slavko Tokanović still gave them up to the collective of the Health Centre in Gracanica. Prof. gift received. Dr. Rada Trajkovic - Director and Dr. Slaviša Tonic - deputy chief of specialised services of the Health Centre in Gracanica.

Dr. Trajkovic expressed her gratitude to Mr. Tokanoviću the contributions, noting that in addition to material assets, means a lot to us knowing that the Serbs in Australia think of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. He also thanked the representatives of the Serbian Orthodox youth organisation and Bishop Irenaeus.
